Overview

Frank, Rimerman + Co. LLP is seeking a knowledgeable Business Valuation Manager with experience in private company business and venture capital valuations.  In this role, you will work on a variety of engagements as it relates to business, portfolio and equity valuations. More specifically, you will work on the review of equity securities valuations for IRC 409A and ASC 718 purposes, purchase price allocations under ASC 805, complex debt securities, gift and estate tax purposes and many other valuation-related engagements.

 

This role offers the unique opportunity to work alongside our assurance and advisory teams who service some of Silicon Valley’s prominent and successful pre-IPO companies.  We are on the forefront of the rapid evolution of business valuation approaches and techniques for fair value considerations. As founding members of the Fair Value Forum and the Fair Value Exchange, two Bay-Area based professional groups of committed valuation experts, we are committed to compliance with fair value accounting standards. In addition, we consult with the venture capital community and assist with valuations in preparation for mergers and acquisitions in the privately held market.

Responsibilities

Professional responsibilities:

  • Perform valuation analyses on a wide range of private companies across different industries;
  • Work with financial models for discounted cash flow, market multiple, market transaction and option pricing analyses as part of external valuation reviews;
  • Perform in-depth client, industry, market and competitor research;
  • Assist in preparing and presenting the results of your analysis in a clear and concise manner in accordance with GAAP.

Qualifications

  • 6-8 years of experience valuing private companies and/or startups (e.g., venture capital, private equity, other asset class experience is beneficial as well)
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with a concentration in finance, accounting, economics, or related fields;
  • Credentialed Business Valuation certifications are preferred:  ABV, CVA or ASA.  CPA or CFA certifications are a plus;
  • Excellent analytical, quantitative, report writing and organizational skills; and
  • Review or build complex models and research technical issues;

 

The expected salary range for this position is $160,000 - $200,000 per year. Actual placement within this range is determined by the candidate’s experience, qualifications, education, and geographic area.
